Scott Dickens

Overview of Experience and Nature of Practice:

Scott is a seasoned litigator who since 1985 has appeared in courts throughout the United States. He serves as the Firm’s Managing Member.

Scott defends manufacturers of consumer and industrial products in litigation involving personal injury, property damage, and other loss. He was selected by General Electric Company in 1991 to serve as one of its National Product Liability Counsel for litigation involving appliances and electrical products. In 2014, GE designated Scott as its sole National Product Liability Counsel for appliances and electrical products. In those roles, Scott has defended many hundreds of cases throughout the United States involving severe personal injury and death, as well as major property damage caused by fire and water. Scott has also assisted in the selection and management of local counsel, and has arbitrated and mediated claims and lawsuits nationwide.

Scott has defended a major pharmaceutical manufacturer in litigation involving drug pricing, a manufacturer of dust masks in a group of lawsuits filed by individuals diagnosed with coal workers’ pneumoconiosis, and several insurance companies in litigation involving coverage disputes, claim payment practices, and subrogation claims.  Starting in 2008, Scott has served regionally as counsel for an international corporation involved with the construction of power generating facilities regarding occupational safety and liability issues. Scott also represents individuals and companies in matters involving nursing home and assisted living facility negligence, breach of contract, insurance coverage, wrongful termination, employment and non-compete agreements, and other litigation matters.

Life Beyond the Law

Scott is a proud first-generation college graduate. He is married and has four sons and two Labrador Retrievers. He enjoys physical training, live music, and working outdoors.

the Kentucky Supreme Court; Trial Commissioner for the Kentucky Bar Association Attorney Disciplinary System (1998-2014); Recognized  in “Best Lawyers”® (Commercial Litigation, Personal Injury Litigation, Product Liability Litigation) 2009-2020; “AV Preeminent”® peer review rating in Martindale-Hubbell.

Community Involvement: Scott volunteers weekly at the Kentucky State Reformatory in a faith-based reentry program for incarcerated fathers, and also assists men in their transition from prison after release. He recently served as lay leader of Kentucky’s largest United Methodist congregation and currently chairs its Administrative Council. He has also had the privilege to serve as an adult leader on youth mission trips to Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and Appalachia. He formerly served as a member and Chair of the Louisville Metro Police Merit Board.
