He was selected by General Electric Company in 1991 to serve as National Product Liability Counsel for litigation involving a wide variety of appliances and electrical products. In that role, Scott has defended many hundreds of cases throughout the United States involving severe personal injury and death, as well as major property damage caused by fire and water. Early in his career, Scott defended multiple product manufacturers in the San Juan Dupont Plaza Hotel fire litigation (involving nearly 100 deaths) and participated in the jury trial of that case in 1989. Since that time he has defended major pharmaceutical companies, a manufacturer of dust masks in lawsuits filed by individuals diagnosed with coal workers’ pneumoconiosis, and several insurance companies in litigation involving coverage disputes and claim payment practices. He has also been involved with the investigation and defense of claims and lawsuits arising from a major train derailment, a catastrophic fire at Appliance Park in Louisville, Kentucky, and motor vehicle accidents involving commercial trucks and private automobiles. Scott also represents individuals and companies in matters involving breach of contract, insurance coverage opinions, wrongful termination, employment and non-compete agreements, and other matters.
