Overview of Experience and Nature of Practice:

Scott is a seasoned litigator who since 1985 has appeared in courts throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.

Scott defends manufacturers of consumer and industrial products involving personal injury, property damage, and other loss. He was selected by General Electric Company in 1991 to serve as National Product Liability Counsel for litigation involving a wide variety of appliances and electrical products. In that role, Scott has defended many hundreds of cases throughout the United States involving severe personal injury and death, as well as major property damage caused by fire and water. Scott has also assisted in the selection and management of local counsel, and has arbitrated, mediated, and tried lawsuits nationwide.

Early in his career, Scott defended multiple product manufacturers in the San Juan Dupont Plaza Hotel fire litigation (involving nearly 100 deaths) and participated in the jury trial of that case in 1989. Since that time he has defended major pharmaceutical companies, a manufacturer of dust masks in lawsuits filed by individuals diagnosed with coal workers’ pneumoconiosis, and many insurance companies in litigation involving coverage disputes and claim payment practices. He has also been involved with the investigation and defense of claims and lawsuits arising from a major train derailment, a catastrophic warehouse fire at Appliance Park in Louisville, Kentucky, and motor vehicle accidents involving commercial trucks and private automobiles. Scott also represents individuals and companies in matters involving breach of contract, wrongful termination, employment and non-compete agreements, and other matters.
